Sasha Ormond is a queer, multidisciplinary, Toronto based artist, focusing on still and moving imagery and contemporary dance. She attempts to reintroduce people to detail and memory using vintage equipment and familiar feeling landscapes.
Sasha grew up in Kitchener Waterloo and has a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. Between the years of 2003 and 2016, Sasha suffered from an incapacitating neurological condition, which left her confined to her bed. As a dancer and photographer, being unable to move was a dark revelation. As she regained some mobility, she ventured out into the farmland and began shooting again.
Her work, like her journey back to health, is an evolutionary process, deriving new elements along the way as representations of change and growth.
Sasha also produces music videos for musicians in Canada and the States.
